Mayor's office says Fischer has no permit to hold impromptu concert
The orchestra has not requested authorisation to reserve a public area, the mayoral communications office said in a statement, commenting on a report by commercial broadcaster RTL Klub.
The Municipal Assembly decided at the end of April to reduce the funding available to the world-celebrated orchestra by 200 million forints (EUR 940,000) to 60 million. The orchestra, it notes, is not a municipal institution.
Fischer then complained in a video message that the decision, coming in the middle of the season, had been made without preliminary coordination. He added that a flashmob would be held in protest.
