The Great Houdini exhibition
2016 marks the 90th anniversary of the birth of American illusionist and magician Harry Houdini (born Erik Weisz) who was of Hungarian origin. Houdini was the greatest escapologist of all times and also one of the greatest performers of the modern age.
In cooperation with Houdini House Budapest, National Széchényi Library will exhibit the unique private collection which could be seen earlier by visitors of the Hungarian Pavilion at Expo Milano 2015.
The exhibition will be open for one month, between January 27 and February 27, 2016, in Building “F” of Buda Castle (Tuesday to Saturday, between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.).
Curator of the private collection is escapologist David Merlini.
David Merlini emphasized that the memorial space plays on the European and Hungarian cultural scene alike, not only shows the ever lived best-known escapologist work, but also evokes the spirit of the age.
