Szijjarto discusses migration issues with Maltese counterpart
Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto held talks with Maltese counterpart George Vella on the sidelines of the informal meeting of European Union foreign ministers in Bratislava on Friday, the ministry said.
Malta also regards the migration wave across Europe as a security challenge and will devote attention to this issue during the programme of its EU presidency in the first half of next year, the statement said.
Szijjarto said Hungary maintains the position that it resolutely opposes the EU quota system for settling migrants and will support measures to stop migration instead of those for distributing migrants.
Europe's security situation has significantly deteriorated in the recent period as a result of the wave of migrants causing a growing threat of terrorism and a deterioration in public safety, he added.
